Arsenal climb to 3rd after a scrappy win against Bournemouth!
Arsenal will go into international break at 3rd place after they won a tight game against Bournemouth. On the back of a good Europa League performance against Standard Liege, Arsenal fans were hopeful of a similar show but most of them left the stadium disappointed; even though they won the game. Luiz scored the only goal from Pepe’s corner in the 9th min but then arsenal just had a handful of chances. They sat back and invited pressure from the cherries who could have at least taken a point from this game if they had capitalized on their chances. It was more of a poor Bournemouth performance than an excellent arsenal one and fans were not at all happy after the game.

The Cherries have now failed to take a point against Arsenal at the Emirates for 5 games in a row. Only Stoke City(10) and Burnley(6) have played more premier league games away from home at the Emirates without a point. Let’s look at the 4 major outtakes for more insight about the game.
1. Unai Emery’s negative tactics is not helping the team
Arsenal went ahead in the 9th min after Luiz scored a header which ended in the back of the net. But after that it was all about keeping the ball and sit back. They created chances occasionally but a big club like arsenal who wants Champions League football should be creating more and most importantly dominate the game rather than sitting back and inviting pressure against a team who arsenal hammered 5-1 last season. Mid table teams use such kind of tactics where u are grinding out the result and Arsenal really need to improve their tactics especially in home games if they want to finish in the top 4.

Most of the fans questioned Emery’s decision to leave out Mesut Ozil against Standard Liege. Some fans were left baffled as the German was yet again not included in the 18 men squad which has left the fanbase divided. Can Ozil be the answer to the lack of creativity? Only time will tell. As it stands he looks no where near to the first team.
2. 72 m too much for Pepe?
Arsenal paid a staggering 72mn pounds for Nicolas Pepe in the summer transfer window which made him the record signing for the gunners but he is yet to deliver a performance which justifies his price level. He scored his debut goal through penalty a fortnight ago against Aston Villa but he has still not managed a goal from open play which has left arsenal fans frustrated. Even though he assisted the goal today for luiz through a corner but fans want more from him. He needs a good performance soon as players like Martinelli and Saka are waiting on the wings to grab his position.
3. Youth players getting more and more chances
One thing which all arsenal fans will agree on is the chance given to the youth players by the manager. Saka started his 3rd premier league game in a row who looks the one to look out for in the future whereas Martinelli Nelson & Willock all have recently started a game or two. Martinelli who had a man of the match performance in mid week against Standard Liege came on as a substitute today which will only boost his confidence for the future matches.
4. Chambers to make that Right Back position his own?
Chambers was arguably the best player against AFC Bournemouth. He had a very strong and committed performance against the Cherries in that Right Back slot which left the fans full of praise for him. When Ainsley Maitland Niles was sent off two weeks ago against Aston Villa, Chambers was brought on. He not only had a good performance but he scored a goal as well in that dramatic victory against the Villans. That performance was enough for him to earn a place ahead of Maitland Niles. The big question now is will he stay there for the rest of the season or will Bellerin who is coming back from a long term injury replace him. Unai Emery will have to decide the right option as arsenal could line up a completely different back 4 against Sheffield United after the international break with the likes of Tierney and Holding also available now.
