Arsenal drifting away from top 4 after dropping points at home!
Arsenal drop points against a spirited wolves side who never gave up and could have even won it in the last few mins. Lacazette and Aubameyang combined for the 1st goal at 21 mins only to be pegged back to 1-1 after Jimenez scored a header from close range. Wolves had an astonishing 25 shots on goal, 2nd most number of shots Arsenal have conceded in a single game this season.
Arsenal made a number of changes to the team. One of the most obvious of changes was to leave Xhaka out after his reaction to his substitution last week. Lucas Torreira came in as a natural replacement. Mesut Ozil who had a good game against Liverpool at Anfield in EFL cup on Wednesday night also started the game. It was German’s only 2nd premier league start. Arsenal started the game slowly but as soon as they scored it looked like they will go on to win the game. But it’s never over till it’s over and wolves left Emirates Stadium with a well deserved point. Let’s take a look at 4 major outtakes from the game.
1. Arsenal lack winning mentality.
This was the 3rd time Arsenal gave away a lead in 7 days. One against Crystal Palace last weekend and then in that blockbuster tie at Anfield against Liverpool in mid week. Even though they had the likes of Ozil and Ceballos to create chances for their strikers but the end product was always missing which has been the case in the last few matches for the gunners. Defensively Arsenal looked vulnerable yet again as they conceded 25 shots against Wolves. Wolves couldn’t took full advantage but they did scored the equalizer which leaves Arsenal with just one win in five premier league meetings against wolves.
2. Aubameyang scored his 50th goal for Arsenal.
One positive Arsenal fans can think of is their striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who went on to score his 50th goal for Arsenal. The Gabon captained Arsenal after Granit Xhaka was left out of the squad after his reaction to being substituted against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Aubameyang failed to score for the last 3 games in a row but he ended his mini drought by scoring a goal which was assisted by his strike partner Alexander Lacazette. Aubameyang’s form could be crucial next weekend as Arsenal travel to the King Power Stadium which could well be the game which decides where Arsenal are at this moment but the way Arsenal are playing this season the Gabonese might look elsewhere if the club fails to finish in the top 4.
3. Emery Out or wait till the end of the season?
Unai Emery has been under immense pressure this season after continuous lack of good performances. People expected Emery to deliver this season after what happened in the summer transfer window but the Spaniard has failed to meet the expectations of Arsenal fans who want him out of the club now. The Arsenal board expects Arsenal to finish in top 4 this season but the first 11 premier league games this season has given no proof about that at all. They have not improved defensively under Emery.

What’s more bad is that they are failing to deliver offensively as well if u remove Aubameyang. They have now won only 6 of their last 18 premier league games. The Gunners face Leicester City next week at King Power Stadium and if foxes beat palace on Sunday and then if they went on to beat Arsenal then they will go 9 points clear off the gunners which could be a real blow in their pursuit of top 4 and could even be the last game Unai Emery manages the club.
4. Wolves are back after a slow start to the season.
Wolves were no way near the top after the first 5 games and after that horrific home defeat against Chelsea in September, most of the experts thought that they will have a hard time handling both Europa league and the premier league at the same time. Fast forward to November and they are unbeaten in 6 games beating city at the Etihad and earning a well deserved draw against Arsenal at Emirates in that particular run. Wolves have had a good record in London recently before this game they were unbeaten for 7 games in the capital. No side has conceded the first goal in more premier league games than Wolves this season(8). But they came back to draw 6 of those 8 matches which shows they never give up. They scored for 10th Premier league game in a row as well which has never been achieved before. Wolves have ended the games quite strong this season. 12 of their 14 goals have come in the 2nd half of games which is more than any other side in the competition. So Wolves have got a good chance of yet again breaking into that top 6 or 7 as the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United continue to collapse this season.
