De Ligt will leave Ajax || Ten Hag
Matthijs de Ligt will leave Ajax at the end of the season, according to the Ajax coach, Erik ten Hag.
The talented defender has attracted the big teams of Europe’s attention and news for his departure could potentially start a high-priced bidding war.
Ten Hag also mentioned that Barcelona and Bayern Munch are interested in the player. Even Juventus, whom Ajax are facing in the quarterfinals, are also reportedly interested in the player.
“There’s zero chance Matthijs de Ligt is staying at Ajax,” Ten Hag said to Suddeutschen Zeitung.
“There are so many clubs interested in him. He will leave us this summer, but I don’t know whether he’ll join Bayern or Barcelona.”
Frenkie de Jong, who is De Ligt’s team-mate for club and country, has already been transferred to Barcelona for 75 mn; though the transfer will be done at the end of the season.
Meanwhile another Ajax player that’s garnering attention is Hakim Ziyech, who looks very likely to move to AS Roma.
Ziyech came close to sign for the Italian club last year and is hopeful to still join them, just like his former team-mate Justin Kluivert did last year.
“No, I don’t think the door to Roma has closed,” Ziyech told Calciomercato.
“I talk to Kluivert regularly and we often speak about Italian football. There is no league where I would prefer to play. It depends on the type of project the club has for me.
“The important thing for me is to continue to grow as a player.”
