The idea of witnessing yet another world cup gives goosebumps to anyone, and the fact that it’s just hours away from us fills our minds with joy. In this piece the focus is on all the countries featuring in Group C. The utterly energetic and vibrant French side and the men from Denmark round off the European contingent from the group. The hopeful Australians and the determined lads from Peru will battle it out with the European sides to get through to the next round.

The expectations from the French side can well and truly be explained by the fact that many believe, this French team has just the right mix of youth and experience to do what Zidane’s men couldn’t do back in 2006. They are being tipped as one of the favourites to conquer the world this time up. On paper, Didier Deschamps’ team looks too good to be true sometimes, filled with just the right personnel at the right spot. The competition among the squad members can easily be seen, the likes of Anthony Martial and Alexander Lacazette couldn’t even make it to the squad. While one must realise that players like these would easily start for most teams across the globe.
They are expected to at least get through to the last 4, if not make it all the way to the ultimate glory.
The Danes are just placed below Peru in the group, at 12th in the FIFA Rankings. However, with players in the squad who regularly feature in multiple leagues across Europe, Denmark will be hoping to make it through to the next round ahead of Peru. Their match against Peru will arguably stand out to be a must win encounter. Having said that, with a player like Christian Eriksen dominating the play up-front, the Danes are expected to make some good scoring chances for themselves.
Peru will undoubtedly be hoping to get the better of Australia when they face them and then that huge must win game against Denmark, winning that can ensure them a route to the next round. With France expected to go unbeaten in the group stage, everything highly depends on the outcome of the match between Peru and Denmark, while most of the people believe Denmark have an upper hand in the encounter, in the world cup you just can’t write anyone off.
Peru will be largely dependent on Jefferson Farfan (Lokomotiv Moscow), who scored 10 goals and gave five assists in the Russian Premier League this season.
The Australians had a world cup filled with positivity last time around, a good display against competitive opponents such as Spain and a never say die attitude that won the hearts of many people. But unfortunately, placed in a group where even a single loss against either Peru or Denmark will ruin their chances of any progression, the Socceroos will be hoping to just cherish each and every second on the field. However, who knows we might witness a magical run.
