It has been a good ride for The Three Lions until now in Russia as they prepare themselves to play Sweden in the World Cup quarterfinals on Friday. And if you believe Luis Garcia then current English side is showing similarities with the World Cup winning 2010 Spanish squad.
“At least they are here. They are continuing in this World Cup which is something many people probably wouldn’t say at the beginning of this competition. What I see different, and I can compare them to the Spanish team of 2010, they are young, they are young players in that team, they want to do something big for their country,” said Luis Garcia.
Gareth Southgate’s side that won their Round of 16 tie against Colombia in penalties have only lost a game so far (1-0 in group stage against Belgium), and it’s expected that they will get past Sweden to march forward and bring it home.
The former Spanish international added, “They showed against Colombia that in the end, even though they couldn’t get the result in 90 minutes, they went through and that is what matters in these kinds of moments.”
England who plays Sweden next, will face either Russia or Croatia if they come through as winners.
