Julen Lopetegui has already lost Cristiano Ronaldo at the very beginning of his Real Madrid reign and speculations about his another star, Gareth Bale’s future have also been disturbing for quite a while.
The Welshman was left frustrated with the lack of game time under Zidane and had earlier hinted about a move away from the Madrid Giants. Bale had been left on bench in the UCL final despite being completely fit. However, the Welshman came as a super sub and scored 2 past Loris Karius to win Real a third consecutive UCL title. Since then, rumours about him leaving Madrid for any other club across the continent have been increasing day by day.
When asked about his future earlier, the Madrid winger had this to say about it,
“I really don’t know [where I will be].”
“Maybe I’ll stay at Madrid, maybe not. I have to talk to my agent.”
Further talking about his disappointment related to him not starting in the UCL final he said,
”I need more minutes. It frustrated me not to be a starter in the Champions League final.I was frustrated because I did not start the final.”
On the other hand, the latest reports from the Guardian talk about Julen Lopetegui’s will to keep hold of Gareth Bale in order to make him Cristiano’s successor. Gareth Bale is now expected to hold talks with the club representatives in order to assure himself of a starting position in the new era of Real Madrid. This should act as a huge setback for José Mourinho who has never shied away from talking about his interest in luring the winger to Old Trafford.
